Policing

The Fort Frances Chiefs Secretariat has taken the lead role in addressing the need for a new policing station in the Rainy River District. The Sub-Detachment for the Southern region of Treaty 3 Police Services operating area is currently in development, led by a committee of representatives from each of the participating First Nations.

In conjunction with the Fort Frances Chiefs Secretariat, the committee has commissioned preliminary drawings of the new facility, and has been involved in the funding process. The facility will be located on Agency One reserve land, across from the Nanicost building. Site preparation has begun, with the facility slated to open by spring of 2010.
